Just after Chistmas 2006 we rolled the chassis into the shop, then came the daunting task of how to convert a chassis made for a small block chevrolet engine into one that would reliably handle a cummins diesel. Firstly we knew we had to stretch the chassis to accomodate the longer engine, but did not count on having to widen it as much as we did, so basically we chopped the rear section off and had it totally rebuilt ... Thanks Terry for all your hard work.
Next came the engine, a donor 12 valve with 206K miles was pulled from a farm truck ... with the head removed for porting the bores showed some wear but nothing major ... so the short block was left untouched with all the original rings, bearing and pistons. The head received extensive porting, high rpm valve springs, studs etc. and sits atop a copper head gasket.
The original fuel system was trashed and has been completely upgraded using Industrial Injection components, big pump, lines and injectors. Lets just say ... we have plenty of fuel running through this thing. To help burn the fuel an Industrial Injection Silver Bullet Turbo was used, even though this turbo is now deceased (ever seen what tooo much nitrous can do to a turbo??) with have replaced it with a larger 71mm one from Industrial Injection that is holding up fine for the moment.
Transmission is a BD Power Full Billet 47RE with manual shift and electronic lockup and overdrive, High stall convertor and a rear adaptor to spline into the Willams yoke. This tranny is very strong and easy to shift using the B&M Pro shifter. Overdrive and Lockup are activated by two switches mounted on the steering wheel.
Other goodies we have added are:
Autometer Pro Comp Gauges, they even have a 6K Diesel Tachometer!,
Nitrous systems are from Bully Dog, yes we are happy gas crazy, just ask the Silver Bullet Turbo, we are running two systems and two bottles and have three jets we can shoot.
Two Water Meth Systems to help cool things down are from Snow Performance great systems and nice big pumps.
We will keep updating this page and adding more photos as we take them, at the moment we are still in the trialing and tuning stages we have more modifications to make but are hoping to be real competitive with the other Diesel Dragsters out there when we all meet in Las Vegas in May, it will be a great event to watch and hopfully more will join in the fun.
